Nurse Helpline

Amerigroup's Nurse HelpLine is a service designed to offer information and education about medical conditions, health care and prevention. The Nurse HelpLine provides triage services and helps direct members to appropriate levels of care. Amerigroup's Nurse HelpLine telephone number is 1-800-600-4441 and is listed on the member ID card. This helps ensure that members have an additional avenue of access to health care information when needed. Features of the Nurse HelpLine are as follows:

  • Available 24 hours a day/7 days a week
  • Information is based upon nationally recognized and accepted guidelines
  • Translation services for 150 different languages and for members with difficulty hearing
  • Education to members about appropriate alternatives for handling non-emergent medical conditions
  • Nurse HelpLine faxes member's assessment report to provider's office within 24 hours of receipt of the call

Monthly postcards are mailed to members who have accessed the emergency room in the past month. The postcard reinforces the importance of notifying the PCP of health concerns.

Disease Management Centralized Care Unit (DMCCU)

Amerigroup’s Care Managers are Licensed Nurses/Social Workers, and are available from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Confidential Voicemail is available 24 hours a day.
